Mass Cultural Council recently welcomed Deborah Kenyon and Kate McDougall as two of its newest staff members. Deborah and Kate will both work within the Agency’s Administration & Finance Team – Deborah as Grant Systems Manager and Kate as Budget & Fiscal Operations Manager.

A long time New York resident, Deborah is excited to explore living and working in Massachusetts. She worked previously in a variety of philanthropic and nonprofit organizations. Most recently, she was in grants management at the Simons Foundation and prior to that she was with JDRF International.

Kate previously spent nine years at the Center for Health Information and Analysis (an independent state agency) as a manager in their finance department. Prior to that, she worked as an auditor, accountant, budget analyst, and owner of her own retail business. She has many hobbies including sewing, embroidery, furniture refinishing, and thrift shopping.

We asked Deborah and Kate “Five Quick Questions” so you can get to know each of them a little bit better.

Tell us which album you can listen to start to finish, over, and over again.
Deborah: The Flaming Lips’ Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots
Kate: George Michael’s Greatest Hits

What is your favorite season and why?
Deborah: Summer for barbecues and the beach!
Kate: Winter because I love getting together with my family during the holidays.

Coffee or tea?
Deborah: Coffee in the morning and tea in the afternoon.
Kate: Coffee

You can have that coffee or tea with one famous person and ask them anything. Who is it?
Deborah: Angela Merkel. I’d ask her to come out of retirement and lead the U.S. for a month, just to shake things up for fun.
Kate: Warren Buffet

What is your favorite Massachusetts cultural organization to visit?
Deborah: TBD! I’m new to the Commonwealth so I’ll take suggestions.
Kate: I enjoy attending Boston Ballet performances.

Welcome to the team, Deborah and Kate!
