Talking About Our Collective Work

Thanks to all who joined our 13 regional meetings across the state last summer, giving us an opportunity to talk about our strategic plan and Power of Culture messaging platform. Did you know that we’ve also created a messaging platform to help you make a compelling case for arts and culture in your community? This document contains some common language and approaches for talking about our work to enrich communities, grow the economy, increase accessibility, and foster individual creativity. Here are some ideas for putting the local messaging platform to work:

  • Take a little language from it (or a lot!), localize it for your audiences, and use it in social media, or on your web site, or in proposals to potential funders
  • Use the enclosed elevator pitch — ‘as is’ or make it your own, customizing it for the audience you want to reach (e.g. elected officials, new partners)
  • Recruit – use to reach new members, partners, and/or champions
  • Share – the more unified our sector’s voice, the more resonant it becomes
  • Advocate – grab some language for use in your op-eds, or meetings with municipal boards
  • Personalize it to showcase your community’s unique super power
