State to State: Massachusetts’ Native American and Indigenous People’s Equity Plan
National Assembly of State Arts Agencies Showcases Ingenuity at Mass Cultural Council
“…Many state arts agencies are taking intentional actions to dismantle barriers to support and make their policies, programs, and services more equitable and accessible.” Ryan Stubbs, Senior Director of Research, National Assembly of State Arts Agencies
The National Assembly of State Arts Agencies (NASAA) recently released In Pursuit of Equity: Four Case Studies of State Arts Agencies, a report that describes how state arts agencies in four states—California, Maryland, Massachusetts, and South Carolina—have integrated equity principles across multiple aspects of their work.
Based on in-depth interviews and prepared in collaboration with the Washington State Arts Commission, NASAA’s report offers examples of numerous policies and programs adopted by state arts agencies to foster equity and access. It includes information on equity-centered planning, partnerships, grant making and programming, communications tactics, and managing change.
We are so proud that Mass Cultural Council has been recognized nationally in our field for our equity work.
