Xiang Li Art celebrates the power, resilience, and beauty of women through over 200 original paintings of Chinese empresses. Master artist Xiang Li spent four decades working inside Beijing’s Forbidden City, where she restored historical masterpieces and perfected traditional techniques such as mineral pigment painting on silk scrolls. Now based in Massachusetts, Xiang Li creates and exhibits her work across museums, universities, and public venues throughout the United States.
Her signature collection—The Chinese Empresses Series—features historical female leaders from every dynasty in China. The paintings are both educational and emotionally resonant, connecting viewers of all backgrounds to stories of leadership, motherhood, love, and survival. Each portrait is carefully researched and hand-painted using time-honored methods.
Xiang Li Art has been featured at Harvard Museums, Worcester State University, and Denholm’s historic windows in downtown Worcester. Upcoming exhibitions include a botanical fusion of empresses and native flowers at Tower Hill Botanical Garden. We are also exploring opportunities in schools, libraries, and cultural centers to inspire new generations with these untold stories.
