Suzanne Gainer is an artist and a professor in the Communication Department at Worcester State University where she teaches courses in Photography, Digital Imaging, and Graphic Design. She received an MFA in Photography from RISD in 1994, and a BA in Communication from St. Vincent College in Latrobe, PA. Her exhibition record includes local, national, and international venues: Most recently the Danforth Museum in Framingham MA, ArtsWorcester in Worcester MA, and notably the Barcelona Foto Biennale in Barcelona, Spain. She recently concluded a six-week artist residency at Joya Arte + Ecología in Velez Blanco, Spain. Gainer’s work ranges in theme from formal explorations of spaces and objects to feminist considerations of the body. Her methods utilize photography, self-portraiture, digital image manipulation, and video.
