I am an artist and educator in the greater Boston area. I attended Hudson Valley Community College in NYS, and later transfering to The Art Institute of Boston where I received a BFA in 2006. I then went on to Lesley University to pursue a Masters in Art Education with a Minor in Art History graduating magna cum laude in 2008. In the same year I received the Capelli d’Angeli Foundation grant. Since graduating I have taught in several Boston public and private institutions. Including teaching drawing at the Boston Architectural College, teacher for Arts Bridge Inc.; a program designed to help Israeli and Palestinian youths utilize the visual arts as a means for conflict resolution. Following this I taught as a teacher for Collaborative Educational Services (serving youth within the juvenile system). Currently I teache Art & Design for Boston Public Schools Dorchester. In addition to teaching, I serve as President for Unbound Visual Arts, a 501c3 Arts Organization whose mission is to enrich the community with educational exhibitions and programs.
Thoughts and concepts, emotions and experiences fuel my creative process and emerge as forms and enigmatic imagery. This work calls for an unfettered imagination, allowing for multiple interpretations. Works may be abstract, symbolic, or representational. They grapple with the intimate and personal … universal themes. I am pulled to the complexity of the human endeavor — to live fully. My work is my process of wrestling with fear, and engaging the full realm of feelings which blend the passionate and pleasurable, the angst and anguish, the uncertainty and the unsettled. Through these images I see, and I seek the constancy of hope; bound as all mortal beings are, by our desire to know, to reach beyond our conscious minds to understand. In the making of these works, these questions become action, a gesture, reaching toward the poignancy of growth.
