Raquel Fornasaro

Raquel Fornasaro is a Brazilian-American interdisciplinary artist based in the Boston area. Working across painting, sculpture, installation, digital media, public art, and participatory workshops, she explores the relationships between people, place, and the natural world. Drawing inspiration from scientific research, cultural influences, and environmental change, her work investigates themes of biodiversity, coexistence, and collective responsibility.

Her practice often incorporates educational programming, site-responsive installations, and partnerships with scientists, organizations, and local communities to foster deeper connections between people and their environments. By blending storytelling, research, and creative participation, she invites audiences to imagine more sustainable and interconnected futures.

Her work has been exhibited at institutions, museums, and galleries, including the MIT Media Lab, Harvard’s Crossings Gallery, and is part of the Berlin Climate Art Collection. Her recognitions include Best in Show awards from the Long Island Aquarium and the Providence Art Club, First Place in the Human Impacts Institute’s Creative Climate Awards, and participation in the MIT Media Lab Open Ocean Initiative in collaboration with the National Geographic Society.
