Nicole Rossi

Nicole Rossi is an oil painter, watercolorist, and illustrator. Rossi’s regular body of work ranges from medium to large sized paintings of figurative, surreal, and fantastical subject matter. Her paintings are narrative and pull from mythical, historical, and symbolic sources. Contemporary imagery anchors the paintings in the present despite these timeless themes. The main characters are women accompanied by a variety of species of animals and plants. These are rendered in a dreamlike blend of realism and abstraction with emotive color use. Though the exact meaning is left ambiguous, each piece explores issues of politics, social justice, and power and oppression.
