y work seeks to engage in a dynamic exploration of the human experience by focusing on authentic portrayals of trauma, mental health and marginality.
Embracing a multidisciplinary approach, my artistic practice is an ongoing experiment with diverse mediums and surfaces. By presenting the complexities of humanity through BIPOC subjects, I seek to challenge historical misrepresentations and harmful propaganda. My work goes beyond aesthetic appeal—as it functions to aid in community healing, growth, and expansion.
I gained a foundation of drawing and painting while studying illustration at MassArt, however, I am fascinated by mediums, techniques and surfaces that allow opportunities to exhibit expressive mark-making. My participation in an artist residency in Yokohama, Japan broadened my artistic scope by introducing new approaches in carving, recycled material, and woodwork.
At this moment, I am researching for a project exploring the materializations of memories, hopes, and other complexities regarding grief. Specifically, I want to gain perspective on weather the ways we participate in memorials acts can create spaces of healing or censorships of tragic realities. Also in development are projects that include video games, paintings, script writing, and mixed-media installations. Through these works, I aim to contribute to a broader dialogue, fostering connection and understanding on a global scale.
