Mary Newell DePalma

Mary Newell DePalma has illustrated more than 20 picture books and is the author of seven. Her picture books include a wordless book, nonsense rhyme, folktales, allegories, and stories based on nature. She has worked as a professional illustrator and calligrapher for more than 20 years.

Mary gives lively, interactive, and fun presentations about the creative process utilizing Visual Thinking Strategies. She speaks about the interplay of words and pictures and the creative process of making picture books to students in pre-K through college. Students brainstorm, imagine, and think visually. Her goal is to inspire and empower students to oberve, wonder, and create.
