Linda Morgenstern is an oil painter. She paints in plein air, studio, from her imagination and from photo reference. Her subject matter is abstracted, impressionist, landscapes and still life. She is influenced by the work of the Bay Area Figurative Painters, and British Contemporary Artists. There is a romanticism in her works which comes from a love of the play of color and light. Ms. Morgenstern is interested in the boundary between abstract art and representation. Her paintings have a strong gestural component, and the materiality of the paint is a large part of the image focus. Linda Morgenstern invites textural elements, such as impasto, and scraping back, to create an emotional experience for the viewer.
