Objective and Style:
My goal as a nature and wildlife photographer is to capture the environment using dramatic light
with an emphasis on the use of water as a reflective element of the scene or as an integral part of
the picture. Macro photography holds a special interest because it is a canvas upon which you
create an image using the interest of the image up close along with subtle light variations to
create or paint your canvas. With animals I want to understand the behavior of wildlife in their
natural setting, capture their movement and tell that story in the emotion of the moment. The
landscape’s ever-changing subtle and dramatic patterns of light, color and shape influence my
photographic approach. From the landscapes they inhabit, to the gentle movements of deer at the
water’s edge, birds in flight, and the dramas of the hunt, I wait, meditating on the landscape and
anticipating the behavior of wildlife and the ever-changing scene before me.
Medium:
Mounted, matted and framed photography. All original artwork generated from 35 mm Fuji
transparency film using a scanner and Photoshop CS to match the original transparency.
