My name is Kayla Conchinha Conner. The word “conchinha” derives from the Portuguese word for “little shell.” I am a writer and watercolor artist, born and raised in New Bedford, MA. After a hip replacement at 30, which helped fix a longstanding disability from my childhood, I began creating, writing, painting. It was a way for me to spread my joy of life and message of hope to those around me.
I chose to start sharing my work to connect with others on a soul level. It helped to take me away from my own pain and brought me back into the physical world again. I paint to heal my soul as well as the souls of others. I create and teach because I love life in its totality, the dark and light, the good and bad, and I live to express and enjoy every moment of it. My struggles and my past have helped form me into the artist I am today.
