Jenny Arndt

Jenny Arndt is a visual artist living and working in Haverhill, MA. After graduating from UMass Amherst with a BFA in painting in 2009, Jenny spent the next few years working for arts nonprofits and taking on art commissions on the side, including pastel portraits, graphic design projects, and murals for businesses. Somewhere along the way, Jenny began collecting paper and experimenting with the medium of collage. Her most recent works are coastal and mountain landscapes made from repurposed tissue paper and a number of unique fibrous and marbled papers. Translucent pieces are layered over opaque scraps to diffuse colors or create new ones. The way the papers will interact with each other is not always predictable, and she is often pleased to discover “happy accidents” once the papers have dried. Her process follows one main rule: No scissors allowed! Every single shape in the design is torn by hand to produce organic lines and soft edges like those found in nature.

Though not a full-time working artist at this time, Jenny is available to take on commissions, and mural projects as they arise.
