Iliana Romanul is a Massachusetts-based fine art nature photographer whose work is shaped by New England and the North Atlantic. She is most at home in northern climates, working in low light, wind, fog, rain, and snow. Her photographs often place a lone form, animal, or trace against weather or open space.
Working exclusively with natural light, Iliana photographs birds, wildlife, water, weather, and northern landscapes in black and white and restrained color. Her field practice follows Leave No Trace principles and prioritizes the well-being of wildlife and habitat over the photograph. Post-production is limited to careful refinements of tone, contrast, color, and atmosphere.
