Holly Worthington

     Holly is a multi media and photography based artist and teacher. She began her teaching career in 1991 at Walnut Hill School for the Arts in Natick, Massachusetts, where she continues to teach darkroom and digital photography processes. She has taught art and photography to all levels of students and adults, in public and private schools, after school programs and summer camps.

     Holly began to focus her art on photography, as she began spending summers in Nova Scotia with her husband, the painter Jim Woodside, and their two daughters. She works in both medium and large format, black and white silver gelatin, wet plate collodion, digital and alternative processes.

     Her work has been shown and privately collected in the United States, Canada, and Europe. Holly’s exhibitions include solo, juried, and group shows at galleries, photography centers, museums and hospitals. She has been a featured artist in both the Boston Arts Festival, sponsored by Mayor Thomas Menino and the Office of Tourism, and the Cambridge Science Festival, organized by the MIT Museum in Cambridge, MA.

     A variety of grants have allowed her to travel to Labrador for a project that uses landscapes as metaphors for medical specialties, to create a portrait project imbedded in a high school Biology curriculum, to spend time living and photographing a family run organic farm in Nova Scotia, and to study with the photographers Howard Bond, John Coffer and Olivia Parker.

      Holly has also taught at Mass Bay Community College and serves as the Director of School Outreach for The Photographic Historical Society of New England (PHSNE).
