Erin McCarthy is one of a handful of artists in Boston who trained in Europe to sculpt the human form.
McCarthy’s sculpting is so lifelike that she was honored by the Portrait Society of America in 2019 for her work in figurative realism with first place in it’s juried art competition for a bust entitled Simple Man. The contest, presented annually by the PSoA,garnered more than 3000 entries from artists across the nation as well as Canada, China and India.
McCarthy trained for 3 years in Italy at the accredited Florence Academy of Art from 2011 – 2014. She returned to Boston in 2016 to set up her studio, following a 6 month artists residency at the prestigious Galerie Schloss Weispach in Hallein, Austria.
