Erica Diane Monson is a Utah native and is currently based in Boston. She is a mixed media artist and educator. Her work explores gendered dichotomies through bodily and organic forms. For Monson, the womb is both an object—a thing of functional use—and a physical space that oscillates between empty and full. In her work the womb becomes both decorative and utilitarian depending on the value a society places on it.
Monson graduated in 2022 with a BFA in studio arts and a K-12 education license from Brigham Young University. She has worked as an art educator in the non-profit and public sector for over 5 years. Currently, Monson is pursuing her MFA at The School of the Museum of Fine Arts at Tufts University.
