Born in 1976, Emily Sandagata makes tattered, stitched, drowned, buried, bound, pieced-together paintings and sculptures. She creates work with reclaimed objects, natural materials, paint, foodstuffs and textiles, constructing new life for scraps of material and forgotten objects. Her work explores themes of death, survival, transformation, growth and decay.
Emily maintains a live/work studio at Western Avenue Lofts in Lowell, MA and teaches Art at the Pike School in Andover, MA. She and her husband Robb participate in Lowell Open Studios each year and open for Western Avenue’s First Saturday Open Studios whenever possible.
