Elizabeth Sheehan is a Lowell based Artis and has been painting for over thirty years.
She paints in the abstract tradition, using gold leaf, mica, burlap and slate, which allows her to create textures and bold colors found in her collage paintings.
She is greatly influenced by Fauvism’s. intense use of color and The Abstract Movement.
During her visit to Barcelona, Spain, she found inspiration in the architecture of Antoni Gaudi and his use of natural organic shapes and patterned mosaics, which she incorporates into her work through the use of color and texture to express her vison and connect with those who view her paintings.
“ My work is about moodiness. movement, connection and an intense sense of emotion or peacefulness. I often play with creating drama to my work by using contrasting light and dark, which is called The Chiaroscuro method”.
