Cathy works with assemblage, collage and photography. She seeks balance in compositions, creates artwork that makes people think outside the box, and arranges paper in new ways to get people’s attention. She has always worked with scissors, cutting things out and then reassembling the cutouts with glue, tape, and staples. Collage materials vary and include translucent tissue and origami paper, shiny, shimmering paper, and magazine cutouts arranged in reflecting patterns.
Three Luminaries in the Library projects were funded with local Massachusetts Cultural Council(MCC) grants and included luminary window banners accompanied by luminary workshops for the community. Acton(2017), Upton(2018) and Worcester(2018,2019) were communities that benefitted from this project.
Two recent solo collage shows highlighted media cutouts arranged on shiny paper reflecting difficult themes of our time.
In 2018 Cathy was granted an Arts Worcester Material Needs grant for printing photographs on aluminum material. She will be in the Material Needs Arts Worcester show September 2019.
In process right now is an assemblage project called RECYLCED CIRCUS.
