Betsy Silverman is a collage artist who earned her Master’s from Rhode Island School of Design. She uses recycled magazines to transform a referenced digital image into a beautiful piece of collage art on canvas. Each piece of paper utilized is hand cut from magazines and incorporates bits and pieces of a magazine image’s former representation. Her work is playful and vibrant, incorporating words and images unique to the person or subject on the canvas. Her art employs a photo-realism quality from a distance, with images and words blurring and blending at close range.
Her art makes wonderful additions to offices and homes, with its references to the New England culture. She especially enjoys working with clients on a commissioned basis to select or shoot a photograph of a location to bring to life via collage.
