Governor’s FY25 Budget Invests $25.5M into Arts & Culture
For the millions of veterans who have served in the United States armed forces, creative expression has been a way to share, to heal, and to give meaning to their experiences. In 2018 the U.S. Conference of Mayors stated: “creative arts therapies and artist-directed programs have the potential to positively impact the healthcare spending concerns, quality of care issues, and healthcare needs of active military and veteran populations.” The Mass Cultural Council seeks to ensure that veterans across the Commonwealth have access to the arts, humanities, and sciences, and opportunities for creative expression, no matter their background. Strategic Plan for fiscal years 2018 - 2022
The Mass Cultural Council released a spending plan for the new fiscal year that will invest more than $14 million in a range of grant programs, services, and initiatives to support the arts, humanities, and sciences in communities across Massachusetts.
We conducted a series of 13 regional meetings across the state this summer as a follow up to the Mass Cultural Council Institute held in March 2018. The meetings gave us an opportunity to convene cities and towns by region to talk about our new strategic plan and Power of Culture messaging platform.
A total of $970,000 is expected to be awarded.
