Plympton Cultural Council
Each year, the Plympton Cultural Council awards a number of grants to individuals and organizations offering cultural programs that serve our community. These include school field trips, after school programs, concerts, festivals, lectures, theater, dance, music, and film. The projects take place in schools, community centers, libraries, elder care facilities, town halls, parks, and wherever the community comes together. The Plympton Cultural Council is part of the Local Cultural Council (LCC) program, a statewide cultural funding network authorized and funded by the Massachusetts Cultural Council.
As the local agent in the town of Plympton for the distribution, receipt and evaluation of applications(these applications are now done online) for funds from the Massachusetts Cultural Council, the Plympton Cultural Council also serves as a resource for the dissemination of cultural information and encourages cultural activities in the community.

FY22 Local Priorities
The Plympton Cultural Council gathers input from the community yearly and develops funding priorities based on this feedback. This year the Plympton Cultural Council will give priority to:
– Applicants that have secured a local venue
– Projects that serve youth or the elderly
– Projects that focus on local history
In addition to the state criteria applications will be evaluated using the following review criteria:
– How well the program meets our local priorities
– Community support and involvement
– Evidence of track record and dedication of the applicant
– Ability to address the diverse cultural needs of a community’s underserved populations or support diverse forms of cultural activities
– Financial need
– Demonstrated planning
FY22 Local Guidelines
In addition to MCC guidelines, preference will be given to proposals submitted to the Plympton Cultural Council that indicate the following:
1. New proposal ideas or those that have not received funding in the last two years.
2. Proposals that demonstrate effective planning process.
3. Proposals that include underserved populations such as elders.
4. Proposals that provide access to people with disabilities.
5. Proposals that have a local sponsor and an arranged site. (If you have not made these arrangements, contact local schools, libraries, clubs and other community organizations to see if they would be interested in your project/event. Then you can work with that organization on the grant proposal. ***You must indicate the agreement of the sponsor by adding documentation of the agreement or by having the sponsor apply for you.
6. Proposals that can be implemented with partial funding, should that be decided upon by the council as a way of funding, and/or be implemented while waiting for reimbursement or funds.
