Petersham Cultural Council
The Petersham Cultural Council funds local projects in the Arts and Humanities. We help fund projects for the Petersham Schools, the Library, the Art Center, the Historical Society, the Petersham Farmer’s Market and many other local and regional organizations such as the Council on Aging. Our mission during this covid era cycle is to encourage programs to emphasize our diversity, and to bring cultural events into our community in a way that gives access to all residents of the town.

FY25 Local Priorities
Council Priorities
Get more information about council priorities from our local guidelines document.
The Petersham Cultural Council allocates funds primarily to local applicants, with an emphasis on Petersham residents, organizations and schools. We prefer to reflect diversity in grant awards from year to year, with exceptions for annual events and projects that relate to the wider North Quabbin region. We would also like to fund town-wide, family-oriented events that bring culture to a wide range of ages and help build community connections and understanding. Grants must be completed in one year from receipt of the award letter.
FY25 Local Guidelines
Council Guidelines
– Petersham residents and artists from the immediate local area are given preference over those from a distance.
– The Council will carefully scrutinize repeated requests. Other sources of support might be required to show the project is not solely dependent on Council funding.
– We prefer not to fund the same programs year after year, but rather to reflect diversity in grant awards from year to year, with exceptions being organizations soliciting partial funding from a number of communities benefiting from the program.
– Preference given to projects that benefit Petersham in a direct way.
*1 Venues and potential dates must be listed on the application. For example, if the applicant plans to present at the library, the library must confirm in writing and the confirmation must be included with the application.
*2 Extensions due to extenuating circumstances will be permitted by written request
