Newburyport Cultural Council

The Newburyport Cultural Council is a 10-member volunteer board whose members are appointed by the Mayor, approved by the City Council, and serve three-year terms. Our purpose is to distribute the funding made available to our community by the State of Massachusetts through Mass Cultural Council. We read, discuss, and vote on all submitted applications.

We seek to support both established and new cultural organizations, large and small, to enhance the already rich cultural environment of Newburyport.

FY27 Local Priorities

In the 2027 Funding cycle, we are looking for projects to:
• Encompass/promote the “spirit of Newburyport”
• Be innovative
• Be community-building
• Be arts, sciences, or both arts & sciences
• Cover impactful issues that affect our community

FY27 Local Guidelines

Proposals must align with the MCC Guidelines
Proposals must be coherent and legible with specific dates, times, and sites
Must include full and balanced budget information
Funding is for the event or project itself, not salaries, sundries, etc.
