Mendon Cultural Council
The Mendon Cultural Council is a municipally-appointed committee whose purpose is to promote and support cultural opportunities, in-person, and as appropriate, virtual events within Mendon and surrounding communities. By providing state-funded grants to individuals and groups involved in the arts, humanities, and interpretive sciences, the Council encourages cultural programming and resources which will offer enrichment to Mendon residents.

MENDON CULTURAL COUNCIL PRIORITIES
In addition to the Mendon Funding Priorities below, our recent survey revealed that Mendon residents preferred community-wide gatherings/festivals, concerts, and plays that are made available and accessible for families and Seniors.
FUNDING PRIORITIES
The Mendon Cultural Council strives to:
- Balance educational, cultural, visual and performing arts programming in the community.
- Serve a variety of the population and provide the greatest benefit for Mendon and its residents.
- Fund community wide events such as concerts, plays, and lectures that are open to the public and free of charge.
- Fund individuals and organizations who perform in Mendon or within a reasonable travel time for Mendon residents.
- Fund local performers organizations and groups.
- Encourage new and unique artistic/cultural experiences that offer students or residents cultural opportunities beyond that which is available through public venue or the school system.
LOCAL GUIDELINE
These guidelines are in addition to those set by the Massachusetts Cultural Council.
- Completed applications must be received by October 16th. Late applications will not be considered.
- THE MENDON CULTURAL COUNCIL WILL NO LONGER ACCEPT PAPER APPLICATIONS. Grant proposals must be submitted via the MCC online application process. All applications must be submitted by October 16th.
- Proposals must include the performance/exhibit date, the intended audience and a CONFIRMED venue. Proof of confirmation may be a letter or email from the venue indicating the date/time/location of the SCHEDULED activity.
- Applications must demonstrate benefit to Mendon residents.
- Resumes, letters of support, press or other qualifying materials must accompany the application. Three pages of documentation may be attached to the online application. Additional materials may be submitted by email to jFirth@mendonma.gov
- The event must be open to the public.
*Council funds are not intended to substitute, replace or relieve existing public funds for programs in the arts.
FY22 Local Guidelines

- Late applications will not be considered.
- Applications must be typed/printed and signed.

- Artistic/cultural excellence must be reflected in resumes, letters of support, press or
other qualifying materials. - Event must be open to the public.
- Council funds are not intended to substitute, replace or relieve existing public funds
for programs in the arts. Schools and libraries may request funding for cultural and
educational enrichment activity that is led by artists, humanists or interpretive scientists.
