FY26 Local Priorities
1. Projects must provide equal cultural access for target group, and must demonstrate a public benefit for Harwich.
2. Previously funded applicants should demonstrate how programs have been modified to introduce new elements and/or develop new funding sources, expand impact or community benefit.
3. Activity cannot be part of Harwich town budget.
4. Preference will be given to local/regional applicants or activities which offer unique cultural and artistic content. While programs offered in the town of Harwich are highly preferable, unique regional offerings expected to attract participation by Harwich residents will be considered.
5. A documented commitment from or collaboration with local partners is a plus.
6. When qualified grant requests exceed funds available, the Cultural Council will seek to balance impact on diverse demographic groups, including any traditionally under- represented by cultural programming.
FY26 Local Guidelines
1. Harwich Cultural Council (HCC) grant funds must be used for the arts, humanities or interpretive sciences (how nature, science and technology relate to people’s lives).
2. Grants are reimbursement-based. Grantees expend their own money and, after the project has been completed, they submit the required forms to HCC form reimbursement.
3. A Grant applications must meet Massachusetts Cultural Council (MCC) as well as HCC guidelines.
4. It is highly recommended that applicants have a letter of intent from the venue or host as well as prospective date(s).
5. HCC is especially interested in projects that bring new ideas, creativity, diversity and interactive programs to Harwich audiences.
6. HCC encourages repeat applicants to apply for different projects each year insofar as possible: our goal is to support a wide spectrum of activities.
7. Organizations may request support for scholarships programs which entail recipients “giving back” to the community.
