FY22 Local Priorities
The Ashby Cultural Council would like to thank everyone who took a few minutes to complete our survey. The survey was the last two weeks in August, and was available at the Library, the Post Office and Ashby Elementary School. The Council’s funding priority is our children. We have approved many wonderful programs that have been performed at Ashby Elementary School, Hawthorne Brook Middle School and North Middlesex Regional High School. Community recommendations solidly backed our 1st choice priority – Ashby’s children. Another council priority last year was to serve our seniors through an Irish Music program which was performed at the Library. This program was granted to the Ashby Council on Aging. Many thanks to those who came out for an afternoon of fun and fellowship ! Another council priority was a program of storytelling and songs to promote and celebrate the Library’s summer reading program. Another council priority was to promote arts entertainment for the enjoyment of all at Ashby’s Pumpkin Festival. It was a great year of fun and learning, and we look forward to this year’s grants which enrich our lives through public programs that promote access, education, diversity and excellence in the arts, humanities and interpretive science.
FY22 Local Guidelines
The Ashby Cultural Council (ACC) is the official local arts agency of Ashby. The council’s purpose is to support and fund creative and innovative programs which benefit the citizens of Ashby, through lecture, demonstration, hands on experience or performance. Grants are funded by the Massachusetts Cultural Council.
In an effort to promote a local community of artisans and artists; the ACC will place its priority with applicants that live in Ashby, but welcome all programs that will be of outstanding benefit to its citizens. Projects with a secured venue, date and time will be given preference over other applicants.
The ACC supports:
- Projects in all art forms
- Projects that target specific populations-such as youth and senior citizens
- Programs held in buildings accessible to people with disabilities
- Programs that demonstrate comprehensive planning
- Programs that show evidence of firm marketing strategies
- Programs that promote interaction between the artist and audience
No event or project will be funded for more than three consecutive years.
