FY22 Local Priorities
The deadline for submission of FY22 applications is October 15, 2021.
The South Hadley Cultural Council welcomes applications from individuals and groups that promote the arts, humanities, and sciences through programs that benefit the citizens of South Hadley. They especially welcome applications for programs that bring art and culture to students in South Hadley Public Schools, as well as those accessible to people with disabilities: in accessible locations, and/or specifically geared towards making arts and culture more accessible. This year, safety is also a high priority: the Cultural Council is actively seeking applications for events that can be conducted online or that otherwise take pandemic safety into account.
Applications should note the way the program benefits the citizens of South Hadley. They must also specify a confirmed venue, date and time (or timeframe) during the calendar year 2022, and other sources of financial support, if available.
Some events funded by SHCC grants in the fiscal year 2020 have been postponed to 2021. The recipients of those grants may apply for SHCC grants for the fiscal year 2022 for different events from the ones that were postponed.
FY22 Local Guidelines
Preference is given to applications that are clear and specific about the activities that are being proposed. Other considerations include:
–Benefit to the citizens of South Hadley
–Program venue, date, and time (or timeframe) must be set at the time of the application
–Projects should take place between January-December of the calendar year
following the application deadline
–Application should outline a plan to adequately publicize the program (Don’t forget social media!)
–Indicate other source(s) of financial support
–No more than 50% of the total budget should be requested from the Council
–Proposal should be able to proceed with partial funding
–Signed letters of support from the host venue and any other local partners
–Program quality, artistic merit, and strong qualifications or track record of the applicant
–Significant community/audience impact, including ratio of money spent to number served
–Funds may not be used for food or refreshments
–Grants funds are awarded as a reimbursement after project completion
For Field Trip applications:
The total project cost is required, along with information about the amount and source(s) of additional funding for the trip. A separate budget sheet detailing project costs and support is suggested.
NOTE: K-12 schools may also apply separately for additional $200 transportation grants to support student field trips to art and science museums, historic sites, and music, dance and theater performances in Massachusetts through the Massachusetts Cultural Council’s Big Yellow School Bus program; these awards are limited to one per school per year.
The Cultural Council does not fund administrative costs for salaried staff, support staff or volunteers, fund-raising projects, or food and beverages. For complete details, please refer to the Massachusetts Cultural Council’s Program Regulations and Guidelines for Local Cultural Councils.
