The Mission of the Peabody Cultural Council is to support and promote the arts in the City of Peabody. The Peabody Cultural Council is proud to support public programs that create opportunities for people of all ages and backgrounds to explore any of the various branches of the arts, including the visual arts (drawing, painting, photography, printmaking, film making), plastic arts (sculpture, ceramics, metalworking, glass working, mosaic & architecture), performing arts (Music, Theater, Dance), and Literary arts (Poetry, and prose). FY24 Local Priorities

“Participation in the arts on the local level positively impacts community life. Cultural participation builds bridges across neighborhood, ethnicity, and class divides. Neighborhoods with a robust cultural life are more likely to attract sustainable, livable development.” From Social Impact of the Arts Project, Mark Stern and Susan Seifert, University of Pennsylvania, School of Social Work

The Peabody Cultural Council is proud to support public programs that create opportunities for people of all ages and backgrounds to explore the world, especially any of the various branches of the arts, including the visual arts (drawing, painting, photography, printmaking, filmmaking), plastic arts (sculpture, ceramics, metalworking, glass working, mosaic & architecture), performing arts (Music, Theatre, Dance), and Literary arts (Poetry, and prose). It is the goal of the PCC to mobilize resources and to ensure that cultural opportunities are available and accessible to all segments of Peabody’s population in order to improve their quality of life. Priority will be given to projects that encourage community members to participate in the arts.

All projects that are funded must benefit the residents of Peabody and enrich the cultural wellbeing of the community.

All projects should be accessible and available to the general public.

The PCC encourages projects which have demonstrated community support.

Projects should request funding to add to existing programs and not for funds to replace existing funding.

The projects should not depend solely on Cultural Council funding for an extended period of time.

Program quality will be a major consideration in all decision making.

Organizations that are comprised of Peabody residents or are Peabody sponsored will be given priority over outside organizations.
