FY25 Allocation

$20,200

FY25 Local Priorities

Informed by feedback provided by our community, the Greenfield Local Cultural Council has developed a set of funding priorities that complement the criteria in the statewide program guidelines. These local priorities will be used to evaluate applications in a holistic way: that is, projects that are weaker in one area but stronger in another can be competitive. We commit to revisiting these priorities over time as the needs of our community change. Annual survey results will be available for download on the GLCC page at www.greenfield-ma.gov/cultural-council.

Priority will be given to projects that either take place in the city of Greenfield or are carried out by an individual, group, or organization based in Greenfield. Projects that take place in or are carried out by applicants based in a neighboring community (i.e., Bernardston, Colrain, Deerfield, Gill, Leyden, Montague, Shelburne) may be considered on a case-by-case basis. Based on the results of the 2024 Community Survey, the following types of projects are strongly encouraged: live performances and festivals, social justice and cultural diversity events, and public art.

To support a thriving creative and cultural ecosystem in Greenfield, the GLCC recognizes the importance of established institutions as well as new and emerging artists, groups, and organizations. We particularly welcome proposals from first-time applicants. Applicants who have received funding from the GLCC in the past are encouraged to explain how their work has evolved since their last application, and should not assume that they will receive the same funding as in prior cycles.

To promote diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging in our community and to address historical inequities in the distribution of resources, priority will be given to projects that directly address the experience of and/or are created by those who identify as Black, Indigenous, and other communities of color, Asian Pacific Islander Desi American, lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and other minoritized sexualities or gender identities, refugees, immigrants, elders, low-income individuals and families or people with disabilities.

FY25 Local Guidelines

With limited funds available, the Greenfield Local Cultural Council is generally unable to fully fund projects. Therefore, we strongly encourage applicants to include additional sources of support for the project (whether cash or in-kind) in their project budget.

Successful proposals typically include a detailed plan for project implementation, including a confirmed date and venue, letters of support from any project partners, and a strategy for publicizing, distributing, and/or disseminating the funded work.

Projects must be completed during the calendar year following the October application deadline, and will not be funded retroactively.
