Time: 1-1:30pm
Join us for Culture Chat, a conversation between cultural leaders and our Executive Director Anita Walker (and YOU!) to highlight creative strategies our sector is developing to adapt to current realities.
This time we’re chatting with Jerry Beck of ArtSpace Maynard, Coraly Rivera of The Revolving Museum, Darren Wells, an award-winning teacher at Boston’s Timilty Middle School, and Revolving Museum board member Becky Cruz-Crosson. Jerry and Coraly joined forces this spring to create The Corona/Crown Project, a bilingual mobile-art project designed to encourage communities hard-hit by the coronavirus. After visiting Boston, Chelsea, Lawrence, Fitchburg and other towns during the height of the virus, this week they worked with Becky and Darren to pivot the project’s focus to one of anti-racism, aligned with the national protests to condemn the killing of George Floyd. The team will discuss the impetus of the project, show photos and video of the caravan in action, discuss the revised messaging for the art mobile (and how it connects to its previous mission), and talk about what’s next for the project and their organizations.
