A change in how the Agency will distribute grants to cultural organizations this year
Program administered by Mass Cultural Council and MassDevelopment supports capital projects within the cultural sector
The Cultural Facilities Fund (CFF) applications are now available, kicking off the FY23 round of grants that support the planning and construction of cultural facilities in Massachusetts. The board of MassDevelopment, Mass Cultural Council’s partner in administering the Fund, voted to approve the launch of the new round of funding this morning.
Over $9 million will be awarded to support repairs, renovations, new construction, and acquisition of facilities. Planning grants are also available for analysis, design, and feasibility studies that relate to a cultural facility.
Entities that are eligible to apply include 501(c)3 organizations that are primarily concerned with the arts, humanities, or sciences, as well as municipalities and colleges that own cultural facilities that serve the public.
This year, we are encouraging cultural organizations to consider ways to reduce the carbon footprint of their facilities, and to align with the Commonwealth’s goal of net zero emissions by 2050. Join us on November 2 for the Paths to Decarbonization webinar to learn more. (Please note: applicants may apply for a Feasibility & Technical Assistance Grant in tandem with a Capital Grant, if it is for the purpose of planning for the reduction of carbon emissions.)
For more information about the Cultural Facilities Fund, sign up for the virtual information session on October 25 for a staff presentation on the program and application process, or drop into staff office hours occurring every week throughout the grant cycle.
The application deadline is February 2, 2023.
