LCC Grants Available for Community-Based Arts & Culture Projects

The Local Cultural Council (LCC) Program is open for its FY27 grant cycle!

Do you have a creative project that could benefit a Massachusetts community? We invite artists, cultural organizations, community groups, schools, libraries, and creatives to apply to their LCCs by October 15, 2026.

This year Mass Cultural Council will invest $5.85 million into the LCC Program, the nation’s largest grassroots cultural funding network.

LCCs provide arts and cultural grants to every community in Massachusetts through the efforts of more than 2,500 volunteers. They fund some 7,500 public projects annually that include everything from field trips to lectures, festivals, and dance performances. Mass Cultural Council allocations to LCCs range from $5,700-$313,60000, based on a formula that reflects state aid to municipalities.

To apply for an LCC grant:

  1. Read about the LCC Program application process.
  2. Download the LCC Program Guidelines (PDF).
  3. Check out Council Profiles to learn about local priorities before you apply.
  4. Register for an information session on September 10, 2026 at 6pm.
  5. Set up a user account and profile in the Agency’s grants management system.

The application deadline is October 15, 2026 at 11:59pm (ET). Don’t wait until the last minute! Mass Cultural Council encourages applicants to complete their applications well before the deadline, as the online system can experience delays when many people are submitting applications at once.

 
Learn More About Applying

In addition to the LCC Program, Mass Cultural Council also offers a Tribal Cultural Council (TCC) Program supporting Native American and Indigenous communities by providing funds for tribal governments to grant to projects that provide community benefit. Grants are available from four TCCs this year to support projects that meet specific tribal criteria.
