The Foster Families Pilot Program is a one-year pilot that connects Western Massachusetts Department of Children and Families offices and social workers with a contact person at participating cultural organizations in their region. Social workers and area offices will identify specific needs and opportunities, such as Sibling Saturdays or supervised visits, for DCF-engaged youth and families to engage with cultural organizations. We hope this pilot will unlock the power of culture for some of Massachusetts most vulnerable youth and families.
Creative Youth Development programs serve some of the most vulnerable youth in Massachusetts. Often these are young people for whom home and school have not been places of support but, instead, the source of trauma in their lives. During the current pandemic, however, many of these youth are sheltered, or trapped, in place in these homes.
