Cultural Facilities Fund 2019 Annual Report

Cover art from the 2019 Cultural Facilities Fund Annual ReportIn 2019, the Cultural Facilities Fund (CFF) invested $9.27 million in the planning and development of cultural buildings in Massachusetts.

89 cultural organizations statewide were recipients of grants to support projects in construction, restoration, and deferred maintenance. Grantees included community art centers, theaters, museums, libraries, nature conservatories, and more.

At the end of each cycle, MassDevelopment and Mass Cultural Council survey all grantees to assess the economic impact of the Fund on the Massachusetts creative economy. 281 cultural organizations reported back on tourism, employment, and their future capital needs over the next two years.

Many commented that without CFF, they would not have been able to leverage the necessary funding to maintain their spaces.

“The CFF has supported the upward growth of our nonprofit based in the poorest county of Massachusetts. The necessary facility upgrades, that we are now able to complete, will allow us to expand offerings; welcome new audiences; and extend community-based programs,” said Linda Tardiff,  Managing Director of the Shea Theater Arts Center in Turners Falls.
