Canton Cultural Council

The Canton Cultural Council strives to use its available grants to maximize positive impacts to the most Canton Citizens possible. We encourage applicants whose projects will be accessible to the entire Canton Community rather than specific groups.

FY27 Allocation

$10,500

FY27 Local Priorities

The priority of the Canton Cultural Council is to bring cultural experiences to our community from a diverse group of artists, scientists and educators. The council accomplishes this goal by:
*Publishing articles in the Canton Citizen detailing the availability of grants and providing information on the application process;
*Maintaining an informative social media page that promotes upcoming performances;
*Having a presence at the annual Paul Revere Heritage Festival and Canton Farmers Market in Canton in order to drive awareness of the grant program and recruit new members; and
*Requesting that grant recipients note council sponsorship to make the public aware of the council.

FY27 Local Guidelines

The Canton Cultural Council awards grants for arts, science and educational programs.
The diversity of the recipients of the grants is of primary importance. Canton is committed to assuring generational, racial, gender and ethnic representation. Benefit to the residents of Canton is also an important criteria. The council gives preference to programs held in town. Programs held outside of Canton require the availability for participation or attendance of Canton residents. Applicants are not required to be from Canton.
Grants in the past cycle ranged from $100 to $1000.

Criteria used in determining the awarding of grants include:
*Qualifications of the applicants and the proposed program;
*Accessibility of the venue;
*Financial need; and
*Artistic merit of the applicant and the proposed program.
