Kledia Spiro

Artist / Creative (Individual)

Kledia Spiro is an interdisciplinary artist, public artist, and educator based in Boston, Massachusetts. She works across performance art, video, installation, sculpture, virtual reality (VR), and participatory and community-engaged art. Having emigrated from Albania in 1997, she creates work rooted in migration, immigrant memory, sensory experience, and language loss.

Scent is central to her practice. Through olfactory art and scent-memory interviews, she invites participants to describe smells tied to home and childhood, then transforms their answers into collective drawings made in VR and translates them into physical sculpture and installation. Her current public art project, Archiving Air: East Boston, gathers memories from an immigrant neighborhood toward an outdoor sculpture at Piers Park.

Her work has been exhibited at Times Square, the Queens Museum, MFA Boston, and the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum, and covered by WBUR, Hyperallergic, and The Boston Globe. She is an elected member of Mobius Artists Group and a 2025–2028 St. Botolph Club Fellow.

Kledia is an Associate Professor at Cape Cod Community College, where she is revamping the 3D design program around sustainable and recycled materials, and a Lecturer in Media and Screen Studies at Northeastern University. She teaches 3D design, photography, graphic media arts, multimedia production, and experience and interaction design. She holds an MFA from the School of the Museum of Fine Arts at Tufts University and a BA in Psychology and Visual Arts from the College of the Holy Cross.
