I have been making and teaching art in both the academic and community setting for 36 years, I receiving a Bachelor of Arts Degree from the University of the District of Columbia in Washington, D.C. and a Master of Art Education from the University of Massachusetts in Dartmouth. Massachusetts.
I taught visual design in a vocational high school for nineteen years, after retiring I taught different after school and city programs.
In 2021 I was the community artist in resident from August until October at the New Bedford Art Museum in New Bedford ,Mass. and in the same year participated in Black in Business ( Herstory) as a speaker for Buy Black New Bedford telling my story.
Currently I work in my studio at Hatch Street studios in New Bedford Massachusetts in painting (oil, watercolor) and textiles ( wall hangings, pictorial quilts, fabric collages and what I call fabric paintings. My work provides me with the ability to create what I’m passionate about either cultural or reactionary.
I find inspiration from my culture, nature, social issues and religion and I hope my art portrays me as being adventurist with a love for learning because of my interest in different mediums
