Sudbury Cultural Council

Established in 1982 as part of a statewide program to develop cultural programs in local communities, the Sudbury Cultural Council (SCC) supports and promotes community originated projects and activities in the arts, humanities, and sciences that benefit the residents of Sudbury. The SCC’s vision is to foster a vibrant and inclusive cultural landscape and to promote community engagement and connection. We welcome grant applications that support local artists and cultural organizations to cultivate a thriving creative community.

The SCC prioritizes programs that take place in Sudbury or where a large portion of the participants are from Sudbury, either as performers, leaders, or audience members. The SCC also considers grant applications for programs in contiguous towns if the applicant can demonstrate a direct benefit to Sudbury residents. We work collaboratively with organizations in the community in helping them develop ideas for programs and events.

FY26 Local Priorities

The Sudbury Cultural Council’s vision is to foster a vibrant and inclusive cultural landscape and to promote community engagement and connection.

The Sudbury Cultural Council (SCC) annually welcomes grant applications that support local artists and cultural organizations to cultivate a thriving creative community. Projects and programs encompass a diverse range of endeavors such as performances, lectures, exhibits, heritage preservation projects, events, and educational programs, all designed to enrich the lives and environment of Sudbury residents. Collaboration with community stakeholders, including schools, businesses, and grassroots organizations, strengthens the cultural ecosystem and expands opportunities for collaboration and exchange.

The SCC prioritizes programs that either occur within Sudbury or involve a substantial proportion of the community, whether as project leaders or participants. Furthermore, to cultivate innovation and variety, new applicants and projects are prioritized.

FY26 Local Guidelines

Developing a community endeavor can be a complicated process, and the Sudbury Cultural Council is happy to offer guidance or answer questions about our priorities and guidelines as you are writing your proposal. Please contact us at [email protected].

Applications are due on or about October 15 (deadline announced each cycle). Funding is available for programs that occur in the upcoming calendar year, between January 1 and December 31.

We are unable to consider applicants without a confirmed venue and date.

After you receive a grant approval, you must submit your direct grant agreement and W-9 within two weeks of notification and submit a final report upon completion of your project.

If you need to make changes to your project after being approved, you must put the request for change in writing to the Sudbury Cultural Council for approval.
