The purpose of the Marion Cultural Council is to promote excellence, access, education, and diversity in the arts, humanities, and interpretive sciences (STEM) in order to improve the quality of life for area residents.

FY26 Local Priorities

Marion Cultural Council gathers input from the community periodically and develops funding priorities based on this feedback. Mattapoisett Cultural Council will give priority to:
 Engaging Our Community
o Events held in Town in Marion
o Local and regional public events such as plays, concerts, festivals in the tri-town (Marion, Mattapoisett, and Rochester)
 Supporting the Next Generation of Artists
o Educates and/or supports school age children (grades K-12) in music, theatre or art programs using existing, traditional and new mediums.
o Involves student art creations using STEAM concepts
 Community arts and cultural organizations
 Environmental education activities
 Projects that have broad audience appeal
 Projects that specifically target teens, seniors, or families
 Projects that address diverse cultural needs or provide diverse forms of cultural activities
 Applicants who have secured a local collaborator or venue (must have a venue with an agreement to be funded)
 Program/Event fees: Programs that are free to the public are given priority.
o Applications that serve a wide variety of Marion’s demographics, including but not limited to the following will be prioritize
 the underserved
 under-represented
 youth
 senior citizens
Programs/events funded for two (2) years will have a lower priority in subsequent years.

FY26 Local Guidelines

• Marion limits the grant to a $750 award maximum
• No more than two applications may be submitted by one organization and only 1 will be selected.
• Marion will not fund more than 50% of the cost of a project
• Applicants who have been funded over 2 years will have a lower priority than other applicants
• If working with another entity (library, school, COA, etc.) are required to provide a statement of support showing the cooperating organization has accepted the program and is partnering with you.
• Grant funds must be used within 1 year. If the program cannot take place within that period, unused funds will revert to the Marion Cultural Council.
• Grant applications must be submitted to the LCC through the online system by the deadline, October 16, 2025 at 11:59pm (ET).
