Gill Cultural Council
The Gill Cultural Council seeks to create opportunities for cultural and artistic expression and experience for all residents. We encourage applications for live events but are also open to online offerings. We look for happenings and events that promote cultural literacy throughout the community. Supported by MCC, we work to bring performers, artists, historians, naturalists, speakers, musicians, and workshop presenters to venues in town or nearby towns. We may prioritize events and activities that can happen in our town. Some of the organizations we have given money to in recent years include the Slate Memorial Library, the Gill Elementary School, the Gill/Montague Council on Aging, the Gill Historical Commission, the Shea Theater and the Antenna Cloud Farm concert series. We will assist in the promotion of events upon request.

FY26 Local Priorities
The Gill LCC has established the following priorities. Funded projects should as a group:
• create opportunities for cultural/artistic expression and experience for all residents
• engage a variety of performers, artists, historians, naturalists, speakers, musicians and workshop presenters
• be generated by a Gill resident or in partnership with an organization or venue in Gill or an adjoining town
• seek diverse sources of support and be clear on how the project will proceed with less than full funding.
We prioritize projects developed by Gill residents and taking place in Gill if possible, but are open to proposals from surrounding communities as long as they are planned in partnership with Gill entities, and/or contribute to the diversity of projects we are able to support.

We will evaluate proposals based on how well they meet our local priorities as well as on the applicant’s background, track record, and demonstrated planning. We appreciate applicants who seek diverse sources of support, and we ask that applicants clearly explain what portion of the project can proceed if they don’t receive full funding.
