Grant recipients have ONE YEAR FROM THE DATE OF THEIR APPROVAL NOTIFICATION to request reimbursement. Grant recipients need the BCC’s written permission (email or hard copy) to make changes to their projects. At their discretion, the BCC can approve reasonable extensions and modifications for projects. The modification should not significantly alter the original purpose of the approved application. Project extensions and modifications must be requested in writing (email or hard copy) and responded to in the same manner. In order to review an extension or other modification to an approved grant the BCC will convene a quorum of Council members and vote. The BCC will inform the applicant of their decision in writing and ensure that the vote is reflected in the meeting minutes.”
It is up to the council to determine what is reasonable and what constitutes a significant change to the original purpose of the approved program. The Mass Cultural Council does not limit the eligible window of time for extensions. It is at each council’s discretion.

FY26 Local Priorities
I. Program Purpose
The purpose of the Brockton Cultural Council (BCC) is to promote and maintain the vitality of cultural activities within the Brockton community. The Council is committed to funding a diverse, equitable, and inclusive cross-section of activities.
Our support emphasizes collaborative projects and programs, including but not limited to: the ongoing work of individual artists and writers, environmental and historical education projects that bring together artists and organizations, local cultural groups and projects that serve specific populations, i.e., youth, elders, low-income, persons with disabilities.
II. Eligibility Requirements
Projects should have a Brockton sponsor and/or substantial community support. Priority will be given to projects that have demonstrated tangible benefits to all Brockton citizens. BCC gives funding preference to local artists who live or work in the city. New projects and programs will also be given preference.
Applicants can be considered as one or more of the following: A) arts, humanities or interpretive science organizations; B) individuals including artists, science educators, historians, musicians, writers or other humanists, parents, community members, etc.; C) community organizations including but not limited to schools, social service organizations, civic groups, neighborhood centers, youth, senior and family associations.
III. Areas of Consideration
There are five major areas considered by council members in evaluating each grant application:
Quality of Project
Inclusiveness, equity, diversity, and Community/Public Benefit
Planning (What? When? Who? Where? Why?)
Collaborative/New Projects
Budget/Marketing/Funding Support
(Detailed descriptions of these categories can be found on our guidelines sheet.)
IV. Field Trips
Up to twenty percent (20%) of total available grants funds will be allowed for the purchase of tickets for cultural field trips for children (pre K-12) in public, private and parochial schools, as well as those in special needs, or after-school programs. Activities, which include performances, educational tours or exhibits and museum visits, must take place outside of the school setting. Applicants must include date, time, location and name of performance or program to be attended on the application.
V. Application Process
Completed applications must be submitted online no later than the October 16, 2025 deadline stipulated by the MCC.
