These public and private sector stakeholders are charged with examining ways to create economic opportunities in the arts and culture sector
Mass Cultural Council was proud to support Public Media Partnerships in FY20 with nonprofit public radio stations serving the Commonwealth.
These sponsorships are part of our long-term effort to leverage our unique position as Massachusetts’ largest public investor in arts and culture to raise the visibility and impact of our sector. We partnered with five public media stations that are also vital sources of support for culture: WBUR, WCRB (a WGBH station), WICN, NEPR, and WERS. Combined we reached listeners in all corners of our state over four months through a $130,000 investment.
Since starting this partnership in FY11, each year we’ve asked a different subset of our grant recipients to participate and help us elevate a key aspect of the Power of Culture. In 2020, the focus was on our newest initiative CultureRx, which aims to create a public infrastructure that supports the role of cultural experiences – including digital experiences – as a protective factor in the health and well-being of all people in the Commonwealth.
The sponsorships highlight Mass Cultural Council’s mission to connect arts and culture to public policy goals such as economic growth or education, and to help our grantees raise their own visibility.
