New Cultural Districts Designated in Holyoke, Watertown & Westfield
There are now 58 state-designated cultural districts across the Commonwealth
We see culture as a necessary ingredient for public health, one that is often neglected or underappreciated. Our new CultureRx Initiative aims to change that.
As part of CultureRx, arts, humanities, and science organizations can help make the healing power of culture accessible to all by participating in our new ConnectorCare Card to Culture discount program.
We are encouraging organizations to sign up to offer discounted or free admission to individuals and families with a ConnectorCare health insurance card. These cards are issued by the Massachusetts Health Connector to people that are 300% of the Federal Poverty Level – many families, young people, and new immigrants.
We will work with all participating organizations to strengthen communication tools to help reach these low-income families, and position the critical work of cultural organizations in conversations about wellness and public health. At the same time, Mass Cultural Council and the Massachusetts Health Connector will be promoting organizations participating in the program directly to the 215,000 cardholders, highlighting our shared commitment to serving all Massachusetts residents.
Organizations that sign-up for the new ConnectorCare partnership before October 31, 2019 will have special promotional opportunities during the Health Connector’s open enrollment period. If you have questions, please contact Kalyn King at 617-858-2718.
