Groton Cultural Council
The Groton Cultural Council seeks to support a wide variety of arts, humanities and science programming in the community. We serve all members of our community, inclusive of all races, religions, ages, ethnicities, sexual orientation and cultures. Our past grants have contributed to musical events, humanities programs, lectures, art shows, history exhibits, and environmental activities, contributing to the vitality of our community.

FY27 Local Priorities
Our Mission: The Groton Local Cultural Council (LCC) supports projects that enrich the cultural life of our community. We are committed to cultural equity, diversity, and inclusion — welcoming applicants and audiences of all ages, ethnicities, races, religions, cultural backgrounds, sexual orientations, gender identities, and abilities.
We prioritize applications for projects that:
• Provide meaningful public benefit through the Arts, Humanities, or Sciences
• Serve and engage the Groton community broadly, including underrepresented and historically marginalized groups
• Are accessible to all residents, regardless of age, background, or ability
• Reflect the diverse voices and cultures present in our community
• Have engaged a community partner within the town of Groton
Projects benefiting people of color, LGBTQ+ individuals, persons with disabilities, and members of all religious and cultural traditions are especially encouraged.
FY27 Local Guidelines
Grant Parameters
• Maximum award: $1,500 per project
• Application limit: Up to 4 applications per organization per cycle
• Funding type: Full or partial funding may be awarded
• Grant structure: Direct reimbursement
Eligible Project Types
• Public arts and cultural programming
• Humanities and science education initiatives
• Field trips — tickets, transportation, and guide fees are eligible for reimbursement
• Capital expenditures — allowed with limitations (contact the Council for details before applying)
Who May Apply
The following are eligible to apply:
• Individual artists and cultural practitioners
• Incorporated nonprofit organizations
• Unincorporated associations
• Incorporated for-profit organizations (where public benefit is demonstrated)
• Tribal, federal, state, and municipal government organizations
• Religious organizations (for non-religious programming — see restrictions below)
Funding Restrictions
LCC funds may not be used for:
• Food or beverages of any kind
• Activities that are inherently religious in nature (worship, proselytizing, religious instruction, etc.)
• Religious organizations are eligible applicants, but funded activities must serve a broad public cultural purpose independent of religious content.
