Cummington Cultural Council
The Cummington Cultural Council promotes arts in this town centrally located within the Hilltown region. We maintain a gallery for the display of two-dimensional art in the town’s Community House on Main Street, which affords local artists a venue to publicize their work. The shows are installed for one month, with the artist encouraged to have an opening reception. We sponsor a community show annually, soliciting contributions from individuals submitting work on a given theme. The Community House also has an auditorium available for performances, and the Town of Cummington has an outdoor gazebo and open-area park.

FY22 Local Priorities
As of October 2020, the Cummington Cultural Council is paying future grantees through direct grants. This means grant money will be available in full and up front to grant recipients and is not reimbursement based. If for any reason a project cannot be completed, grant funds will need to be reimbursed to the Council. Full instructions will be sent to successful applicants along with their award letter.
In accordance the Massachusetts Cultural Council, all applications must be completed online.
Support Videos and/or images may be linked via YouTube or another hosting service. If you need a faster internet connection for uploading, the Community House hot-spot will be available throughout the granting cycle.
This year the Cummington Cultural Council will give priority to:
? Projects with a clear local benefit
? Applicants that utilize Cummington’s town facilities. These include (but are not limited to) the Community House Gallery, Community House auditorium, the town’s outdoor gazebo and open-area park.
Facilities must be used in a way that is in compliance with the latest COVID guidelines. It will be up to presenters to be aware of any updates to the state guidelines.
PLEASE NOTE: If you are planning to use a town venue, please check the Cummington Cultural Council Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/cummingtonculturalcouncil ) or website (https://cummingtonlcc.wordpress.com ) for information about scheduling and rental fees where applicable. Proposals of any type may also include a letter of support from a Cummington resident.
With regard to virtual programs, applicants should be aware that some town residents do not have broadband or internet. If you are proposing a virtual program, please take this into account.
? Projects that serve elders and children
? New and/or original ideas.
In addition to the state criteria* applications will be evaluated using the following:
? How well the proposal meets the Cummington Cultural Council priorities stated above
? Community support and involvement.
? Evidence of applicant’s ability to successfully complete the proposed project
? Ability to address the diverse cultural needs of our community
Please Note: We tend to fund large-budget projects only if funding from other councils is sought. We request that you note other Local Cultural Councils from which funding is being requested and specify the dollar amounts.
