Chelmsford Cultural Council

The Chelmsford Cultural Council is committed to funding a diverse cross-section of activities. We support a variety of art forms, works of local artists, environmental education projects and collaborative proposals that bring together artists, organizations, and local cultural groups in projects that serve Chelmsford and the surrounding communities.

The Council meets on the second Wednesday of the month at 7:00 p.m. at the Chelmsford Center for the Arts, 1A North Road, Chelmsford MA in the first floor conference room. All meetings are open to the public.

FY22 Local Priorities

The 2020-21 funding priorities are for art, humanities and interpretative science projects that:

– Celebrate Chelmsford’s cultural diversity and promote inclusivity.

– Support Chelmsford artists, cultural organizations and community events.

– Promote collaboration among local artists, cultural groups, and community organizations.

– Bring new artists and/or cultural opportunities to Chelmsford.

Chelmsford Cultural Council Local Grant Application Guidelines 2020-21

The following information has been developed to assist you in preparing your grant application. Please note that this information can change from year to year. Use the following as a checklist as you complete your application package. If you have questions or need additional information, please contact the Chelmsford Cultural Council grant administrators at chelmsfordcultural@gmail.com.

There are many criteria used in the evaluation of grant applications. It is important to the Council that applications demonstrate as many of the following as possible:

– Celebrate Chelmsford’s cultural diversity and promote inclusivity.

– Support Chelmsford artists, cultural organizations and community events.

– Promote collaboration among local artists, cultural groups, and community organizations.

– Bring new artists and/or cultural opportunities to Chelmsford.

– Benefit to the community.

– Potential to promote excellence, access, and educational opportunities in the arts, humanities, or interpretive sciences.

– Thorough project planning and high qualifications of the individuals involved.

– Artistic and/or creative merit.

– Financial need.

The Council will carefully evaluate requests for repeat or ongoing projects. Such proposals should show other sources of support that prove that the project is not dependent exclusively upon council funding.

The following list outlines the details of the application process that must be followed:

Applications must be submitted online. Please email the grant administrator at chelmsfordcultural@gmail.com with any questions.

– Confirmation letters for venues and related contracts must be submitted with the grant application.

– Applications are for projects taking place between October 15, 20120 and December 31, 2021.

– All school-related grant projects must have written approval from appropriate school officials. The Chelmsford Cultural Council will consider 2020-21 applications for field trips, but will not fund transportation expenses.

– Applications submitted without supporting documents (resumes of key personnel or performers, brochures, letters of support/commitment, artist samples) will not be considered.

– Applicants are strongly encouraged to attend the grant review meeting that will take place in December 2020 at the Chelmsford Center for the Arts at 1A North Road in Chelmsford, MA. Grant administrators will notify applicants of the exact day and time. Applicants will have the opportunity to speak briefly on behalf of their request and Council members can seek clarification and ask questions of the applicants. The Council will vote on grant funding later in December. Applicants are welcome to attend the voting meeting, but it is not a forum for them to speak about the grants.

– Applicants must not implement any project or publicize receipt of any award until official notification is received from the Council.

FY22 Local Guidelines

– Confirmation letter(s) for venues and partnerships with local organizations must be submitted with grant applications.

– The Chelmsford Cultural Council will consider 2015-16 Field Trip Grant Applications, but will not fund transportation expenses.

2015-16 CHELMSFORD CULTURAL COUNCIL GRANT APPLICATION GUIDELINES

The following information has been developed to assist you in preparing your grant application. Please note that this information can change from year to year. This information has been formatted as checklists for you to use as you complete your application package. If you have questions or need additional information, please contact the Chelmsford Cultural Council grant administrator, Beatriz DesLoges at beades@comcast.net.

As in prior years, proposals from schools and libraries must not request support for activities that should be, or used to be, part of the municipal budget.

The Council will carefully evaluate requests for repeat or ongoing projects. Such proposals should show other sources of support that prove that the project is not dependent exclusively upon council funding.

Eligibility:

In order to be eligible, applicants must meet the one or more of the following criteria:

– Arts, humanities, or interpretive sciences organizations

– Individuals applying for grants may include artists, science educators, historians or other humanists, community members, etc. Please note: Individual applicants are required to be a Massachusetts resident for at least one year.

– Organizations applying for grants may include schools, social service organizations, civic groups, etc. Please note: Incorporated organizations must be non-profit and unincorporated associations must have a non-profit purpose.

_____ All applications must be typed.

_____ Applications submitted without supporting documents (resumes of key personnel or performers, brochures, letters of support/commitment, artist samples, etc.) will not be returned.
