FY24 Local Priorities
Fy24 The Southbridge Cultural Council priorities for applications with no order of applications the following categories: Southbridge applicants (individuals), artists, performers, private non-profit organizations, schools, library, or other non-profit public agencies, religious groups, churches, etc, and applicants only from Massachusetts. New applicants, art forms and humanities programs that are under-represented in the community with projects interested in promoting cultural diversity. All are considered with the same criteria restrictions of MCC and that of Southbridge (SCC) for compliance. All applicants must read, understand and follow the MCC and SCC criteria requirements before completing the online application grant contract.
All events/programs must be open to the general public and venues chosen have to be handicapped accessible.
FY24 Local Guidelines
Location and Venue: The activity must take place in Southbtidge. The VENUE and DATE must be CONFIRMED before submission of the online application to Boston, MA . In all instances, a change of venue date of the grant requires a written job modification letter mailed to the SCC for prior approval before the event can take place. The mailing address is the letterhead of the grant acceptance letter of January 2024. No emails are accepted since this request is date and time stamped when received at the Southbridge Town Hall office. Publicity -Promotion: The event must be promoted in accordance to the criteria requirements of MCC and SCC compliance. Refer to the acceptance letter of January ’24, the MCC Contract/Requirements online of MCC for specifics and to the SCC criteria as well which is different in some areas from the MCC criteria. The Southbridge Cultural Council advocates using the recognition statement in the grant acceptance letter with the MCC logo or in place of the logo on flyers and some promo materials. While the MCC logo is useful, when used alone in place of the statement it tends to eliminate the community recognition you are in with your event. All promoted/published materials must recognize the Southbridge Cultural Council support and the Massachusetts Cultural Council support.. While social media is acceptable, news releases especially to the local newspaper once a week issue on Thursday is necessary (Southbridge News, Editor, P.O. Box 90, Southbridge, MA 01550) and to the Southbridge Cable Access TV, 41 Elm st. Town Hall, Southbridge, MA 01550 . Both should be mailed 2 to 3 weeks before the date of the event for coverage. Important is that the individual in charge of the event’s publicity must be made aware of the MCC and SCC criteria for compliance of the grant funding. Also important, the grant recipient should not rely solely on the host venue for the publicity. The grantee recipient of the grant funding has a obligation to do publicity. Reimbursement: The Southbridge Cultural Council does not participate in direct grant reimbursement. All events are a reimbursement form procedure after the event with all the criteria required publicity documentation. All publicity published copies of news releases, published social media copies, programs, flyers, tickets, paid invoices, etc. must be included with the reimbursement request. Grant reimbursement is valid one year from the date of the grant acceptance letter of January 2024. The reimbursement may take 3 to 4 weeks before a check is issued. Failure in the submission of required documentation may cause an additional delay for payment. PLEASE NOTE: Every 2024 grant recipient must provide an updated and correct W-9 Tax form with the reimbursement request. Failure to provide this required documentation will further delay payment.
